Yong Yap (7113ft)

There are two routes which can be used by climbers: one is through Kg Hussein and another one utilising a vertical yet interesting route starting from Kg Kuala Mu. Both are located in Sg Siput.

Route 1: Kg Kuala Mu

The journey will start at a place named Felda Perlop Selatan. This is where you will board a pick-up truck that will carry you to Kg Kuala Mu, which is located about 3hrs journey by mobile. Be warned that the truck will use a loggers’ trail, thus, the road condition is not very well maintained.
Kg Kuala Mu is actually an Aborigines settlement. This is where you will begin your trek to Mount Yong Yap. Beginning from a waterfall just beside the village, a quite horrendous vertical slope will greet you, with a smiling face. For today, the trekker would recommend for the team to rest at Camp Sera, where water could be easily collected at the nearby Sg Cina. Nothing to worry about because the campsite is only about three hrs away.
The next day, the journey to the summit continues. A 6 hrs journey, it is very tough. Not only physically strong, a mountaineer should also be mentally persistent. Along the journey, the only suitable resting place is Sg Parah, about 3 hrs from the campsite. Please take note that this is also the last waterpoint available. But don't worry, because the Summit is near. After walking for about 2 hrs, you will arive at the Summit. CONGRATULATION!!! The view is really breathtaking. You can see in all directions, that this is really a beautiful place to be. Just forget your tireness, refresh your mind with the scenery.
After spending the night at the Summit, which is very cold, now is the time to scale down. The journey today is to Kg Kuala Mu. The trek is about 6 hrs long......downhill. That is the interesting part. Usually, campers camp for the night, either at the Kg or near the waterfall, depending on their preferences. It is unadvisable to undertake the journey to Sg Siput at night, because you never know what you might encounter (and this is really TRUE!!!).
Come daybreak, this is the time when we will say "Goodbye" to Mount Yong Yap and Kg Kuala Mu. From Sg Siput, you can either take a bus or train which are available back to where you come from.

COMING SOON.... Route 2: Kg Hussein
